Liu:
A Journey of Art and Redemption
March 3 ~ April 14,
2012
Opening Reception:
Saturday, March 3, 2012 @ 7:00 p.m.
With work spanning nearly three decades of artistic
expression, this exhibit examines the art and career of Qimin Liu,
a Chinese-American painter who immigrated to the United States in
1991. Covering a wide range of his work during this period, the
intent of this exhibit is also to highlight the personal and spiritual
journey of the artist as he has sought to find and establish himself
in the art world of modern U. S. society. Over the past ten years,
the work of Qimin Liu has been placed squarely in the school of
both Philadelphia Realism and as a direct descendent of the New
York "Ashcan" School of artists, having gathered much national and
international acclaim. Please join us at Provenance Center as we
take a look into the life and art of Qimin Liu.

Documentary: Dirt ~ the movie (2010)
Wednesday, March 21, 2012 @ 6:30 p.m.
is everywhere, under our feet and all around us, but
don't give it much thought. To understand that a plant grows from
seed with only dirt, water and sunlight as aides is truly amazing,
but we must remember that the plants are not the only source of
life. Dirt itself is a living, breathing part of life on Earth,
and we need to ensure it is given the care and respect it deserves.

Documentary: Farmageddon (2010)
Wednesday, April 18 @ 6:30 p.m.
Filmmaker Kristin Canty's quest to find healthy food
for her four children turned into an educational journey to discover
why access to these foods was being threatened. The film highlights
the urgency of food freedom, encouraging farmers and consumers alike
to take action to preserve individuals' rights to access food of
their choice and farmers' rights to produce these foods safely and
free from unreasonably burdensome regulations. The film serves to
put policymakers and regulators on notice that there is a growing
movement of people aware that their freedom to choose the foods
they want is in danger, a movement that is taking action with its
dollars and its voting power to protect and preserve the dwindling
number of family farms that are struggling to survive. 78 mins.
